Remote Working Works!

96% say working from home is important to them

96% say working from home is important to them-2The key issues:

  • AIB and BOI both announced changes to the hybrid model of work were without prior consultation with staff and their trade union.
  • This is a major change for staff and will have implications for work/life balance, commute time, childcare costs, and job satisfaction.
  • The current  hybrid system of work is working,  producing high productivity levels and helping to generate record profits for the bank.
  • The FSU are conscious not all employees can avail of remote working but for these who can it is important.
  • The banks have given no rational for this change. The banks should consider the benefits of remote working before they make any changes to their policy. They should also consider how they can promote sustainability while at the same time putting 10,000 staff back in cars.
  • This can be resolved by the bank reverting back to the present position, sitting down with the FSU and discussing any issue they may have with the current position.

“Really good progress had been made around work life balance. And all the time bumper profits so it was winwin. What is the end game here”-2

  • Help build our voice by encouraging colleagues who are not members to join FSU (JOIN NOW). Make sure they name you as the person who recruited them, so you receive a €50 All4One voucher.
  • Talk to your colleagues to keep the momentum going.
  • If you are in a position to do so, help us with media engagement. If you are willing to talk about the impact this change in policy will have on your life, let us know — we will support you in doing this. Contact our communications team at comms@fsunion.org. Let’s make this human, rather than just faceless numbers.
  • Become a point of contact for the union in your team, section, or department.
  • Support your Sector Committee members when they visit sites around the country over the coming months.
  • Contact your local TD and ask them to contact the banks to make the case for keeping the current policy in place.
  • “Really good progress had been made around work life balance. And all the time bumper profits so it was winwin. What is the end game here”Encourage family and friends to do the same.
  • Ask local businesses that might be impacted by this change to contact their local TD and explain how they will also be affected.
  • You can help us spread our message on social media. If you have an account on X (Twitter), Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and/or BlueSky, look for us: fsuireland — follow us, like our posts, comment on them, and share them.
  • Use this feedback form to tell us what you think and to share your suggestions on how FSU can progress this campaign and the negotiations with your employer.
