Many members have raised concerns with our Union about the declining value of the Bank’s health insurance allowance. Rising health insurance premiums, alongside wider cost of living pressures, mean that the current allowance no longer provides the level of support it was intended to deliver.

In response to your concerns, the FSU has formally written to the Bank seeking both an increase in the allowance and a mechanism to ensure it keeps pace with future cost increases.

Health insurance premiums have increased significantly in recent years, with many members reporting cost increases of around €500 since 2024. As a result, the real value of the current €1,400/£1,000 allowance has diminished significantly at a time when staff are already facing pressure from rising household expenses and general inflation.

We will continue to press for meaningful action on this issue. The case for reviewing the allowance is clear, and the Bank should recognise the genuine financial impact rising healthcare costs are having on staff. If the Bank fails to address this issue, it means failing to respond to a legitimate concern that our Union has repeatedly raised.
