Staffing and Hybrid Update - AIB Group AIB 12/26

08 June 2026

AIB 12/26

Just a short update on a number of matters we have discussed with the Bank over the last week.

We have heard from members of staffing challenges within the branch network, particularly as we now enter the peak annual leave period. We have raised specific details of those provided by members to management on your behalf. There are agreed protocols in place where staffing numbers in a branch fall too low to provide all services that would normally be provided. Should this occur, members should engage with their branch manager in relation to these protocols.

To support branches throughout the summer period, the Bank have confirmed that they have hired 140 summer students. FSU will carry out a quick one-day survey in the coming weeks to assess staffing levels.

For our hybrid working members who have requested an exception to the Ways of Working Policy, who have had this request declined by the Bank, and are currently awaiting an appeal on same - it is fair that you can continue to work your current arrangement until you have an appeal outcome. If you are having difficulties in this regard, please advise us and we will raise this with the Bank on your behalf.

We appreciate your patience as we finalise the appeal process with the Bank. These appeals on pre-existing arrangements will be independently and externally heard. This is a very significant logistical operation and so has taken some time for us to work through. The important piece is that your appeal will be heard by an experienced hearer independent of the Bank and FSU which is as a result of the strong representations of your Union.

Finally, as you know, we continue to work with the Bank to review the local working hub capacity in the network. As a result of this I am happy to advise that the LWH in Wexford and Athlone Town Centre are now back online providing some much needed hub capacity for members in this region. We will continue to review LWH Capacity with the Bank and will keep members updated.
