Hybrid Update: Referring to Arbitration - BOI Group BOI 15/26
14 April 2026
BOI 15/26
We are writing to update you on an important decision regarding our dispute with the bank on hybrid working.
This dispute has been ongoing since July, during which time our union engaged fully and in good faith in local negotiations and at the WRC.
Our priority is to secure a clear, fair, and enforceable resolution.
Given the circumstances and the need for a definitive outcome, our union has decided to proceed to arbitration. An independent arbitrator, Liam Doherty, has now been appointed to hear the dispute on Tuesday, April 21st.
Arbitration is a formal and well-established process, in which the arbitrator will hear submissions and issue a binding determination. This means the outcome is accepted in advance by both parties and must be implemented.
This approach provides certainty and avoids further delay. It will give us a resolution more quickly than proceeding through the Labour Court.
Your Sector Committee continues to support members in ongoing hybrid meetings and appeals. If you need assistance with your hybrid request or have concerns about your own situation, please contact your Sector Representative.
This has been a long and challenging negotiation. The decision to proceed to arbitration has been taken carefully and in good faith, with the aim of delivering a fair and practical outcome for hybrid workers.
We will keep members informed as this process progresses.
If any of your colleagues aren’t union members yet, please ask them to join at www.fsunion.org/fsu/join.
