FSU lodge a formal complaint to the Labour Court as dispute escalates

Staff at Tullow Credit Union take to the picket line on Friday as the industrial dispute over union recognition enters its sixth week.

According to the FSU the Board of Directors of Tullow Credit Union have refused to engage in any meaningful discussions to try and resolve the issue and this has resulted in an escalation of the dispute to the Labour Court.

Commenting Gareth Murphy, Head of Industrial Relations and Campaigns with the FSU said:

“Due to the complete intransigence of the Board of Directors of Tullow Credit Union staff have been left with no option but to escalate the official dispute. Pickets will be in place all day on Friday 9th October and next Monday 12th October.

As the Board refused to enter meaningful discussions with FSU, via the Workplace Relations Commission, the union has now lodged a formal complaint with the Labour Court.

The FSU have informed the Board of Directors the dispute will be paused if there is prior agreement that both sides, the FSU and the Board of Directors  will agree to implement any recommendations made by the Labour Court. This is an important opportunity for the Board to end this dispute.

It is bizarre we have reached this stage, but we remain optimistic that common sense will prevail."
