FSU urge employers to support staff during cost-of-living crisis
22 April 2026
FSU launch a petition across the banking and wider finance sector looking for meaningful supports to be provided by employers.
The Financial Services Union (FSU) has written to the CEOs of all the retail Banks and a number of other financial institutions urging them to support their staff during the ongoing cost of living crisis.
The FSU have joined the call from other unions for employers to do more to help alleviate some of the financial burdens that staff are currently experiencing.
Commenting John O’Connell. General Secretary of the FSU said:
"Recent developments worldwide and domestically have resulted in a significant increase in the cost of living.
In particular, the cost of accommodation, fuel and food is causing significant financial difficulty for workers.
Today we have written to the CEO’s of the main retail banks and a number of other financial institutions asking them to provide meaningful additional supports to their staff to help alleviate some of the financial burdens they are experiencing.
As part of our campaign to highlight the issue we will be launching a petition across the banking and wider finance sector.
These supports could include flexibility on working from home, increased mileage allowances, fuel supports, vouchers, lunch allowance or other related supports.
The petition is open to everyone working in the financial services sector.”
