Last Friday, we met the Bank again at the WRC to continue negotiations on hybrid work. While we’ve made meaningful progress on hub expansion, we’ve now exhausted the conciliation process at the WRC.
Our Union has asked for a joint referral to the Labour Court. There is still a long road ahead—and your support remains crucial.
What we’ve achieved so far
As members know, thanks to your continued pressure and support, the Bank agreed to open five new hubs in Sligo, Letterkenny, Tralee, Tullamore, and Wexford. They will also expand capacity in Limerick, Mullingar, and Dundalk.
In response to the Union, the Bank also changed the booking process for desks so that spaces open at 10am now rather than midnight.
What is outstanding
Despite these gains, we remain far apart on several key issues:
- Future guarantees on the number of days worked in person
 - Transparent and equitable grounds for exceptions
 - Reasonable distances to travel
 - Further expansion of the hub network

What happens next
Our Sector Committee will meet next week to determine next steps and start to prepare for the Labour Court. We will need your help, so please keep a close eye out for circulars over the next few weeks. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
What you can do right now
- Keep submitting and appealing exception requests.

If you’re waiting on an appeal outcome, don’t change your working practices. Reach out to your Sector Committee rep for help.
- Let us know of any developments or changes in your local area—contact your Sector Committee rep.
 - Grow our strength—ask colleagues to join the union.

The more members we have, the stronger our position. Join at www.fsunion.org/fsu/join.
Keep the pressure on!
Talk to your colleagues about hybrid. This is a long negotiation process, and we must keep the issue alive. Don’t let a new status quo settle in while we’re still fighting for a fair deal.
