FSU members in Tullow Credit Union go on strike

Decisions taken by Board of Tullow Credit Union are bizarre and very concerning say FSU

The Financial Services Union have described the behaviour and decision making of the Board of Tullow Credit Union as bizarre and very concerning.

Staff at Tullow Credit Union today began the first of a number of strike actions placing pickets outside the front door of the Credit Union.

Commenting Gareth Murphy, Head of Industrial Relations and Campaigns with the FSU said:

“The staff of Tullow Credit Union have been forced to take strike action today because of the intransigence of the Board of Management of the Credit Union in refusing to meet and recognise the FSU.

The spectacle of the Chairperson of the Board of Management together with a member of the board oversight committee passing the picket and opening up the Credit Union was bizarre and raises real concerns.

All staff want is for the Board of the Credit Union to talk with the FSU and resolve a number of issues around pay and working conditions.

The FSU are available to enter talks with a view to reaching a satisfactory resolution for our members.

The support offered today from the local community in Tullow towards the position of the staff was overwhelming and we are very grateful to everyone who signed the petition.

We call on the Board of the Credit Union to respect the wishes of its staff and not leave staff with no other option than strike action.
