FSU call for better international cooperation between video game unions

09 December 2025

Games Workers Unite Ireland; a branch of the Financial Services Union (FSU), have called for a common approach from all game unions globally to help counteract and resolve the many problems workers in the game sector encounter on a daily basis.

Game workers from across Europe met in Paris recently, to share knowledge, discuss strategies and techniques, and debate solutions to shared problems.

Commenting on the outcome of the meeting a spokesperson for GWU said:

“Jobs are under threat, we are denied a voice in our workplaces, and policies such as 'return to office' and tools like generative Al are forced upon us, even though they degrade our working conditions.

We demand stable careers and equity for everyone, free from layoffs, free from the imposition of Al tools and free from authoritarian policies.

Multinational companies are already organising across borders. Game workers are already working together in international companies and productions. Therefore, unions must also coordinate at a global level.

We have agreed to increase cooperation between our unions in both the short and long term, and to stay united in front of all that's going on in our industry and the world.

We can do something, and we will. We will organise and fight for our rights.
