Minister Murnane O’Connor calling on FSU and Tullow Credit Union Board of Management to attend WRC is welcome says FSU

The Financial Services Union (FSU)  have welcomed what is has described as the “positive intervention”  of Minister Jennifer Murnane O’Connor in the Tullow Credit Union dispute.

Minister Murnane O’Connor issued a statement earlier today calling on both sides in the dispute to utilise the offices of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) to help resolve the ongoing dispute over union recognition

Commenting Gareth Murphy, Head of Industrial Relations and Campaigns with the FSU said

“Staff at Tullow Credit Union are in industrial dispute with the Board of Tullow Credit Union over union recognition and pay and working conditions. Four work stoppages have occurred so far with more planned for next week. Community support for staff is overwhelming with huge numbers of local people signing a petition of support.

The intervention of local TD and Minister Jennifer Murnane O Connor calling on both sides to attend the WRC is welcome.

FSU members in Tullow Credit Union would much prefer to be providing the essential services of the Credit Union in their community and do not want to be out on strike.

The FSU are prepared to attend the WRC and would urge Tullow Credit Union Board of Management to do likewise.”
