Financial Services Union call for inflation busting pay increases that rewards bank staff and protects against cost-of-living increases

FSU sets out stall as pay survey is launched.

The Financial Services Union (FSU) have called for a significant pay rise for staff of the main retail banks.

The FSU, which represents staff in all the main retail banks, has been meeting today with all its union representatives from across the Country to discuss upcoming pay talks.

Speaking after a meeting of FSU representatives in Dublin today, Mr Gareth Murphy, Head of Industrial Relations and Organising with the FSU, said:

“Banks have announced bumper profits this year and are happy to pay enormous dividends to shareholders. Employees are the essential ingredient of business, and their professionalism and work rate has contributed significantly to the profits of the banks. This work need to be recognised and rewarded.

Earlier this year, over 5,000 workers signed our cost-of-living petition calling on employers to recognise the reality of the ever-increasing cost of living with extra financial support for staff. Inflation is rising, with the cost of essential items causing undue hardship for staff.

Today we have launched our pay survey – Have Your Say. Shape Your Pay.

The results of the survey will help shape our future pay negotiations with the banks.

We expect our members to be clear in their ask of us.

Any pay deal must be inflation busting, be reflective of the professional work of staff, and take account of the enormous profits generated by the banks.”
