Today the Bank has announced changes to its branch opening hours, to take effect from 4 August, 2025. As you are aware, the bank continuously reviews its ways of working based on customer need and demand, and staff input. Your Union has given member feedback to the Bank on staff needs and ways of working within the branch network for the last number of months.

Today’s announcement sees the Bank making some changes to branch opening, but in doing so, there is no change to the footprint of the branch network.

Your Union believes this is good news and are heartened that the Bank has listened to the feedback from staff in particular around Saturday opening.

Currently, all branches open from 10:00am to 4:00pm. New opening hours Monday to Friday will be 9:30am to 3:00pm, shopping centre branches will operate from 9:30am to 4:00pm. The change of opening hours is designed to enable staff to support customers through increased customer engagement and allow for more personal growth and development for staff.

Currently 7 branches open on Saturday. These 7 branches will no longer open. Instead, the Bank will open the 4 shopping centre branches. Shopping centre branches will open from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Saturday hours will be from 9:45am to 3:15pm. A full day in lieu will be given for the hours worked. There is no change to the current rotation of 1 in 7 Saturdays worked, but a welcome change is that no one living outside of a 25 mile radius will be required to work Saturdays unless they choose to.

It is important to note that there are no contractual changes for staff. We believe the majority of members will be happy with these changes but as always, your Union will welcome any feedback. If you require any further information please contact your Sector Committee, details below:
