Bank of Ireland Group – Branches ROI
The bank has notified the union that they will be amending their Data Privacy Notice to allow for the use of CCTV footage in the following cases:
- Security reasons
- Fraud or crime prevention
- Investigation or disciplinary procedures in relation to fraud or crime
- Reviewing compliance with cash handling procedures
The last item (reviewing compliance with cash handling procedures) is new and is a change to what CCTV could previously be used for.
We queried this change with the bank. They stated that this will happen only once per year in each branch. The OCCM will randomly select one occurrence of a staff member accessing an ATM and one occurrence of a cash/till takeover and consider whether dual control was applied over cash. If dual control is not applied, two things occur:
- The branch is marked down on their ‘scorecard’
- All staff in the branch undergo a training session on dual control
No individual staff member will be named or noted as part of this process. The bank has assured the union that any issue relating to this check, including the branch scorecard, will not be considered as part of any individual performance review.
Your Sector Committee representative is available to support you if you have concerns about CCTV or the way your manager is using it.
