Finance Union wants talks on Northern Bank restructure
Issued : 10 May 2012
IBOA The Finance Union has has sought an urgent meeting with Northern Bank's senior management to discuss the implications of the announcement by the Bank's Danish parent, Danske Bank, about a proposed restructure of its Irish operations.
"While IBOA welcomes the commitment to Northern Ireland contained in the Danske announcement," said General Secretary, Larry Broderick, "it is concerned that, as yet, the Bank has made no commitment to retain the jobs and terms and conditions for existing staff in Northern Ireland.
"We also need clarity about the impact of the proposed restructure on branches, head office functions and central support from Denmark - both for staff and customers. Our members are particularly concerned about how the new structure will operate - particularly with regard to contracts of employment and the potential overlap of roles.
"Until we receive adequate guarantees about the proposed restructure, IBOA has advised the Bank that our members are not prepared to co-operate with these proposed changes."
