FSU proud to host European network of Danske Bank Unions

Issued : 12 October 2017

Financial Services Union was proud to host the Danske Bank unions from across Europe in Dublin this week.

A packed agenda focused on the issue of flexibility in the workplace.  There was a very constructive discussion about the pros and cons of flexibility for workers in Danske Bank and the wider banking and financial services sector.

Speaking about the meeting FSU’s Eileen Gorman said, “The European network of unions representing Danske Bank staff is a really valuable organisation.  It enables us to exchange knowledge and experience and benchmark important issues across the Danske Bank network.”

“The theme for the meeting in Dublin was ‘flexibility in the workplace’ and how it impacts on workers – both positively and negatively.  We really appreciate the input from Dave Gibney of Mandate Trade Union who gave an overview of employer attempts to change contracts, restrict workers’ rights and increase control in many workplaces in Ireland.  Helge Hvid presented fascinating research on the pros and cons of flexibility and led a spirited debate among attendees.”
